Dinner Event
April’s dinner speaker was Steve Richman from Genworth Mortgage Insurance. With a near full house of 135 attendees, Steve presented current demographics and purchase trends of today’s homebuyers. He explained how the top performers in our industry use this information to effectively build their marketing plans to increase home loan production. Steve also spent time discussing how to work with customers based on the generation they were born. Your conversation with a Baby Boomer, for example, should be different than when you’re talking with someone from the “Millennial generation.” It was during this part of the presentation his quote, “Sell onto others as they want you to sell onto them,” resonated with the crowd. Steve also provided links to a number of websites loan officers can use to find specific information regarding homebuyer trends. Annual Past President’s Night
This year’s event will be held on May 21, 2013 at the Broadmoor Country Club, featuring a live auction with some outstanding items. Please bring your spouse or significant-other, as this event is great fun and raises money for a wonderful organization, Hopelink. We will also welcome our past presidents. The event will fill quickly so be sure to register early.

College Scholarships
The SMBA Board approved four scholarships for college students (two each for $1,000 and $2,000). These scholarships are only available to employees or siblings of SMBA member companies. Jay Crowell, the head of the SMBA Scholarship Committee, will soon provide via email details on the application process for future 2013 scholarships.
